Another Newsletter

Results: All team captains must ensure that result cards or cancellation sheets are posted to arrive with Neil Nixon by the Wednesday following the game. If this is not done then an automatic minimum £10 fine is levied. If you have no cancellation sheets these can be downloaded from the leagues web site. First Division home teams must ensure that results are telephoned to Neil before 6:15pm on the day of the game. Again the penalty for non-compliance is an automatic minimum £10 fine. The leagues funds have already increased substantially as a result of teams not meeting these requirements so far this season.

Umpires: Clubs are reminded that all Division 1 games must, and all Division 2 games should, be umpired by level 1 umpires. Results cards from Division 1 will be scrutinized to ensure compliance.

Red Card Offences: Clubs are reminded that if a player receives a red card at any level of hockey then he/she is suspended from all involvement in the sport, other than as a spectator, for an absolute minimum of 16 days. Offences involving violence carry much longer suspension periods. We have had one case this season whereby a player playing for a University side midweek was red carded but turned out for a local club at the weekend without the club being made aware of the matter. However the league ruling in such a situation has to be that the player was ineligible and the result therefore questionable. Clubs that might find themselves in such a position must instruct players concerned of the possible repercussions of a failure to inform them of a red card offence [and perhaps yellows] resulting from a legitimate game with another organization.

Player Selection: A certain degree of reservation has been expressed with regard to the rule which no longer permits the doubling up of players between teams on a particular day [ref. My previous newsletter]. You may recall that this was passed at the AGM by only one vote. It has been pointed out that the North HA may not accept this change as it conflicts with their own rules on the issue. I will be submitting the rule revisions to the North in the near future. In the meantime the rule was accepted at the AGM and can only be changed again at an EGM or SGM. In this regard you should continue to abide by it until further notice.

Yours in Hockey

David Thorman.

Dear Members,

Thankfully, all playing members now have new shirts with their own
number. Could I ask if anyone still has an old,long-sleeved playing
shirt to hand it in to myself   or their captain for recycling!

Club socks are available again from me. They are £5.00 a pair.

Some members still have to get hold of WHITE shorts - possibly
an early Christmas present !

Subject: Watch found at Kings Academy Coulby Newham Saturday 25th October

Leigh/Peter

After umpiring a match at Kings Academy Coulby Newham on Saturday 25th

October I found a man's watch in one of the changing rooms, the security guard was no help so I've still got it.

If any of the Wilton or Marton Furness players lost a watch, drop me an email and I'll get it sent back to you - just to be certain it goes back to the right person, I'll need to know the type/make.

Dear Members,
The new season is upon us and all three teams have testing
divisions to play in. Good luck to everyone.

Our "home" teas and drinks will once again be served up by
"The Normanby" which we are grateful for.

Please help captains by informing of availability early.

We are about to take delivery of brand new shirts, so could
members have their old shirts ready to "swap". That is, the
poly-cotton long-sleeved shirts not the short-sleeved polo
shirts. Please remember that shirts are the property of
Wilton H.C. and must be replaced if lost or stolen.

Just a reminder that we play in white shorts and royal blue
socks with a full, white trim. Socks are available from Peter
Lawson at £4.50. (Someone said that "Sport and Soccer" in
Middlesbrough are also selling them for £2.00 !Worth a look!).

Any changes of address/telephone number to captains and/or
Mike Kelley.

More later. All the best,

Peter Lawson.
